La Rioja Alta Viña Alberdi Rioja Reserva 2010Deep, ripe cherry red, with a clean, bright pink rim. Expansive nose, with dominating ripe red fruit, currants and liquorice, rounded off with sweet notes of vanilla, caramel, jam and spices. The wine is particularly well-balanced, with a smooth, elegant entry, medium body and sweet, tasty tannins. Ripe fruit, herbs, vanilla and caramel come together to mark a pleasant, agreeable finish. Viña Alberdi is characterised by a notable food-pairing versatility. It is an ideal companion to appetisers, snacks and barbecues, perfect with rice, pastas and stews, and great with lightly-grilled meat and fish.

Sartarelli Verdicchio dei Castelli di Jesi Classico Superiore Balciana 2010Beautiful and intense straw yellow color with nuances of golden yellow. Intense on the nose with hints of ripe fruits, tropical and citrus fruits, touches of spice, liquorice root, almonds and honey. It is strong on the palate but at the same time fresh and flavorful with a persistent taste and smell. It is full-bodied with an intense harmoniously balanced flavor, and despite the high alcoholic content, it is extremely agreeable to the palate.
Bodegas Muga Prado Enea Gran Reserva 2006Intense ruby-red, cherry heart and slight brick-red tinge at the edge. The colour has not developed very much. Expressive, well defined aged character but with reminders of the fruit. A base of very ripe red fruit (plums, blackcurrants) cloaked in a fairly classical bouquet which gradually opens up more subtle nuances as the wine is aired. First come the hints of fine wood (cedar, fresh acacia bark), then lots of spicy aromas (cinnamon, cloves, black peppercorns) and finally reminders of tobacco leaves and tea to round off an overall impression combining a clear classic character with very modern vitality. Balanced on the palate, with body and liveliness, the tannins well tamed by the ageing but still there, providing sensations of noble strength, consistent, full mouth-feel, lively, well integrated acidity and wood, full of taste and suggestive mouth aromas in which the fine reminders of ripe fruit are more apparent, persistent, supple finish inviting you to have another glass. An exemplary Gran Reserva, well developed and full of vitality. Expression of the fruit, with the classic Rioja bouquet (with no animal notes or any sign of oxidation) and with the fine, lively character of a red from the Rioja Alta.
Rocca di Montegrossi Geremia 2011Intense ruby, with violet nail, and with complex aromas that bring to mind sour cherries, currants and other wild berry fruit, mingled with licorice and vanilla. The 2011 Geremia, the estate's Cabernet Sauvignon/Merlot blend, offers tons of energy to balance its dark, inky fruit. Lavender, menthol, melted road tar, sage, crème de cassis and grilled herbs are some of the many signatures. The ripeness and raciness of the year come through in spades, yet there is an element of pulsating intensity in the glass that plays off the more overt elements nicely. Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec 2015This ancient, walled vineyard has the estate's shallowest, stoniest soils. The wines are rich and intense. Many consider this to be Vouvray's finest single vineyard site. The vines are farmed using biodynamic methods and harvested by hand. Undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in large, old oak demi-muids as well as stainless steel vats. There is no encouragement of the malolactic fermentation, thus many Huet wines remain rich in malic acid, a character that brings an age-worthiness to the wines. 'The 2015 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec displays a well defined and complex bouquet of ripe and concentrated fruits intertwined with chalky flavors. Dense and elegant on the palate, with a mouth-filling fruit and a perfect sweetness that counterbalances the raciness and firm mineral structure, this is a finesse-full and powerful Chenin with lots of salt and tension. Very intense to the nose, with outstanding spicy aromas of black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla enveloping fine notes of red berries. In the mouth, we enjoy a pleasant structure, balanced acidity and delicate, enveloping tannins. Broad finish, with a round, elegant aftertaste. A Viña Ardanza which assures many years of enjoyment and will pair with all kinds of meat stews, roasts and grilled red meat.
Antinori Tignanello 2013An intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, the 2013 Tignanello shows a nose of great red fruit intensity along with highly pleasurable notes of vanilla, chocolate, and leather from the well balanced contribution and fusion of the aromas of the oak. The spicy and balsamic sensations which give additional complexity are also quite important. The wine is ample and enveloping on the palate with supple tannins and a savory freshness which fully respects the character and personality of the Sangiovese grape. The balance between acidity and tannins is excellent, and the finish and aftertaste are of a lovely length and persistence.
Clos des Brusquières Châteauneuf du Pape 2014The average age of the vines is 40 years, with some vines dating back to the early 1900s. All the grapes are hand harvested during multiple passes through the vines. The wine is feremented in cement tanks, lasting anywhere from 3-4 weeks; the cap is punched down and the wine is pumped over. Ageing takes place in neutral wood. The wines are neither filtered nor fined.
