Château-Phélan-Ségur Saint Estèphe 2008

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Produced from optimally ripe and perfectly healthy grapes rich in polyphenols, it has a very deep, dark purple color, tending to black. The nose is very pure, defined by aromas of fresh black berries and red berries, which, mingled with the secondary aromas shows beautiful overall complexity. The wine's structure is harmonious with lovely volume on the palate and is supported by smooth, bold tannins that make the finish enduring and powerful. This is undoubtedly a vintage worth keeping for a long time.

Wine EnthusiastThis is a woody, toasty wine, which seems to be the style here for the last several years. It has weight, but does need time for the wood to subside and bring out the elegant fruits.

Wine AdvocateA distinctive earthy, spicy character along with hints of camphor, black currants and raspberries emerge from this medium-bodied 2008. Soft tannins, a seductive mouthfeel and surprising length suggest this wine can be drunk now and over the next decade.

Wine SpectatorOffers good medium-bodied flesh, with mulled plum, smoked apple wood and tobacco leaf notes that give way a bit to a slightly taut structure on the finish. Drink now through 2013.
