Domaine Chandon de Briailles Corton Clos du Roi 2011
|Appellation||Cote de Beaune|
|Brand||Domaine Chandon de Briailles|
BurghoundAs is usually the case this is much more obviously sauvage in character than either of its two grand cru stable mates. The reticent nose grudgingly offers up notes of spice, floral elements, smoke, tea and a mix of red and blue pinot fruit aromas. The palate impression is quite rich with plenty of dry extract that buffers what are the ripest tannins in the range, all wrapped in an intensely mineral-driven and hugely long finish. This is by far and away the best wine here.
Wine SpectatorA pleasant earthiness enhances the core of cherry and strawberry fruit in this dense, linear red. A bit reticent today, yet exudes energy and potential. The finish lingers with a savory, stony element and a hint of licorice. Best from 2017 through 2030. 81 cases made.
