Vinedos Alonso del Yerro Ribera del Duero 2011
|Region||Ribera del Duero|
|Brand||Vinedos Alonso del Yerro|
Wine AdvocateThe 2011 Crianza is a selection of Tempranillo grapes fermented with indigenous yeasts and aged for 10-15 months in a combination of new (15%) and used French oak barrels. It starts off fairly reduced, so it would benefit from energetic decanting. When it opens up, it feels marginally riper than the 2010, with notes of prunes, black cherries, tar and graphite, the oak well integrated with the fruit. The palate is full-bodied, with abundant, dusty tannins and moderate acidity. Drink now-2019.
Wine SpectatorThis red delivers savory notes of tar, smoke and mineral, with chewy tannins and balsamic acidity. Austere in style, but a core of plum emerges on the clean finish. Decant. Best from 2017 through 2026. 600 cases imported.
