Domaine le Clos du Serres Terrasses du Larzac La Blaca 2011

The clean aromas of cashew nuts, tapenade and fresh blackcurrant, so typical of the Syrah grown on the heights above St Jean, continue in the mouth. Splendidly thirst quenching, the wine ends on flowers with a hint of licorice. Decant several hours before drinking. Serve at 17° with duck breast, beef steak, lamb from the Larzac.

Wine AdvocateA step up, the 2011 Coteaux du Languedoc Terrasses du Larzac La Blaca (75% Syrah, 15% Grenache and 10% Carignan aged in concrete and 10% new barrels) is perfumed and slightly lifted on the nose, with fabulous notes of blueberry, violets, spice box and liquid flowers. Medium to full-bodied and exceedingly silky and pure on the palate, it has a knockout texture, fine tannin and a terrific finish. Drink it over the coming 5-7 years.
