Our entry-level red wine is basically a field-blend of mostly Nerello Mascalese (85%) with other local varietals from all our old vine vineyards: Nerello Capuccio, Allicante Boushet, Minella nera, Uva Francesa and Minella bianco. Our Contadino expresses Etna as made in a traditional way of blending different varietals: fragrant, elegant, structured with personality.
Day Sonoma County Zinfandel 2015Intense, inky purple in the glass, deeply floral with heady notes of pink peppercorn on the nose. Vibrantly fresh on the palate, the wine is packed with blackberry, boysenberry and is held taut by a firm graphite structure.
Domaine Huet Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec 2015This ancient, walled vineyard has the estate's shallowest, stoniest soils. The wines are rich and intense. Many consider this to be Vouvray's finest single vineyard site. The vines are farmed using biodynamic methods and harvested by hand. Undergoes temperature-controlled fermentation in large, old oak demi-muids as well as stainless steel vats. There is no encouragement of the malolactic fermentation, thus many Huet wines remain rich in malic acid, a character that brings an age-worthiness to the wines. 'The 2015 Vouvray Clos du Bourg Demi-Sec displays a well defined and complex bouquet of ripe and concentrated fruits intertwined with chalky flavors. Dense and elegant on the palate, with a mouth-filling fruit and a perfect sweetness that counterbalances the raciness and firm mineral structure, this is a finesse-full and powerful Chenin with lots of salt and tension. La Rioja Alta Viña Ardanza Reserva 2007Outstanding, medium-high depth, dark-cherry red with an intense pinkish rim. Very intense to the nose, with outstanding spicy aromas of black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and vanilla enveloping fine notes of red berries. In the mouth, we enjoy a pleasant structure, balanced acidity and delicate, enveloping tannins. Broad finish, with a round, elegant aftertaste. A Viña Ardanza which assures many years of enjoyment and will pair with all kinds of meat stews, roasts and grilled red meat.
Antinori Tignanello 2013An intense ruby red in color with purple highlights, the 2013 Tignanello shows a nose of great red fruit intensity along with highly pleasurable notes of vanilla, chocolate, and leather from the well balanced contribution and fusion of the aromas of the oak. The spicy and balsamic sensations which give additional complexity are also quite important. The wine is ample and enveloping on the palate with supple tannins and a savory freshness which fully respects the character and personality of the Sangiovese grape. The balance between acidity and tannins is excellent, and the finish and aftertaste are of a lovely length and persistence.
Clos des Brusquières Châteauneuf du Pape 2014The average age of the vines is 40 years, with some vines dating back to the early 1900s. All the grapes are hand harvested during multiple passes through the vines. The wine is feremented in cement tanks, lasting anywhere from 3-4 weeks; the cap is punched down and the wine is pumped over. Ageing takes place in neutral wood. The wines are neither filtered nor fined.
