Classic white Sancerre with aromas of white flowers, lemon, pear and gooseberries. On the palate good roundness with avibrant, refreshing acidity and peppery minerals adding to the complexity. The wines from the cooler northern edge of the Sancerre appellation do not have the same stylist fatness as those from the southern villages like Bué and Sancerre itself. On the other hand, they have a steely character of great purity and immense charm... perhaps the most Chablis like of the Sancerre wines. When young the acidity of it is capable of compensating the fatness of dishes like 'rillettes',
smoked salmon, eel, herring or haddock. This aromatic wine goes well too with the strong flavours of asparagus and wild oysters. When riper: poached river fish such as char, pike, perch and trout. Caviar. Very classic combination with 'crottins' or other goat's cheeses.
Wine SpectatorFresh and pure, with white peach and lemon curd notes that stream through nicely, laced with hints of tarragon and verbena. A light chalky hint underscores the finish. Drink now through 2017. 100 cases imported.
