Clos des Brusquières Châteauneuf du Pape 2014
|Brand||Clos des Brusquières|
VinousBright red. Vibrant mineral- and spice-accented red berry preserve and floral pastille scents show excellent clarity and pick up notes of lavender and incense with air. Silky and expansive on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and floral pastille flavors that show an alluring sweetness and seamless texture. This pure, graceful Châteauneuf finishes with excellent thrust, smooth tannins and an emphatic echo of fresh red fruit. One of the more elegant wines that I tasted in February and a must-buy for fans of graceful Châteauneuf-du-Pape.
Wine AdvocateTasted out of barrel and what should end up being a good to very good wine, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape offers up classic notes of sandalwood, garrigue, dried pepper and savory Provençal fruits in a medium-bodied, firm, relatively mid-weight style on the palate. Made from 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and the rest other permitted varieties, it spent 18 months in equal parts concrete tanks and demi-muids. It should drink nicely on release and hold through 2024.
