The average age of the vines is 40 years, with some vines dating back to the early 1900s. All the grapes are hand harvested during multiple passes through the vines. The wine is feremented in cement tanks, lasting anywhere from 3-4 weeks; the cap is punched down and the wine is pumped over. Ageing takes place in neutral wood. The wines are neither filtered nor fined.

Silky and expansive on the palate, offering juicy raspberry and floral pastille flavors that show an alluring sweetness and seamless texture. This pure, graceful Châteauneuf finishes with excellent thrust, smooth tannins and an emphatic echo of fresh red fruit. One of the more elegant wines that I tasted in February and a must-buy for fans of graceful Châteauneuf-du-Pape.

Wine AdvocateTasted out of barrel and what should end up being a good to very good wine, the 2014 Châteauneuf du Pape offers up classic notes of sandalwood, garrigue, dried pepper and savory Provençal fruits in a medium-bodied, firm, relatively mid-weight style on the palate. Made from 60% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre, 15% Syrah and the rest other permitted varieties, it spent 18 months in equal parts concrete tanks and demi-muids. It should drink nicely on release and hold through 2024.
