Cantine del Notaio L'Atto 2014
|Appellation||Aglianico del Vulture|
|Brand||Cantine del Notaio|
VinousDeep ruby-red. Rich red cherry, botanical herbs and sweet spices on the enticing nose. Enters sweet and round, then turns herbal; strong notes of quinine and underbrush complement ripe red cherry fruit flavors. Finishes very pure and long. Made from 100 percent Aglianico. These are the Aglianico grapes that Giuratrabocchetti harvests first each year, usually in mid-October. The wine spends one week on the skins and ferments at 78-80°F (26-27°C).
Wine AdvocateThis is the entry-level Aglianico from Cantine del Notaio. The 2014 L'Atto delivers great bang for your buck. The bouquet offers depth and intensity with savory notes of spice, ash, scorched earth and dried berries. Aglianico is never very strong when it comes to offering fruit-driven primary aromas. Instead, even in its youth, this mighty grape from southern Italy offers more sophistication and nobility than you might expect. It is never outwardly fruity. Instead, Aglianico reveals a fundamentally austere, dry and savory side.
Wine Spectator This light- to medium-bodied red is bright and creamy, with flavors of crushed black cherry and blackberry fruit, accented by notes of herb, tar and spice. Mouthwatering, showing light tannins on the finish. Aglianico. Drink now through 2019. 1,200 cases imported.
