Joao Portugal Ramos Vila Santa Red 2015
|Brand||Joao Portugal Ramos|
Wine AdvocateThe 2015 Tinto Vila Santa is an unoaked and roughly equal blend of Aragonez, Trincadeira and Castelão. It comes in at 14% alcohol. At a bargain-basement price, this is a lot of fun. It has surprisingly good structure in its youth, a lifted feel and some grip on the finish. It is remarkably bright and sunny. The freshness lifts the fruit and makes it vivid as well as delicious, avoiding candied nuances along the way. This isn't the type of wine you age or expect to turn into anything special, but in its youth, it will be a tasty house pour that exceeds expectations. Drink it young for best results, no matter how long it theoretically lasts. It has nowhere to go but down, but it is worth leaning up just now, in this wine's gloriously fresh youth.
