Rocca di Frassinello Rocca Di Frassinello 2013
|Brand||Rocca di Frassinello|
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Maremma Toscana Rocca di Frassinello is a blend of 60% Sangiovese, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 20% Merlot (aged in mostly new oak for two years). This is a stunning wine and is, without a doubt, one of the two best wines I have yet to taste from Rocca di Frassinello. The other is the 100% Baffonero Merlot. What distinguishes this wine is the seamless nature of its intensity and its integration. There are absolutely no rough transitions here and the wine wraps smoothly over the palate with firm determination. The dry extract is high (38 grams per liter) and all that heft and density leaves a lasting positive impression.
Wine SpectatorThis bright, juicy red is full of plum and black cherry flavors, with flourishes of tobacco and spice. Balanced and modern, showing firm grip on the finish. Sangiovese, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon. Drink now through 2020. 4,167 cases made.
Wine EnthusiastAromas of black currant, menthol, oak and vanilla lead the nose. The extracted, one-dimensional palate offers prune, blackberry extract, dried sage and tobacco alongside extremely raspy, astringent tannins that dry out the palate.
