Tenuta di Sesta Brunello di Montalcino 2008
|Appellation||Brunello di Montalcino|
|Brand||Tenuta di Sesta|
Wine EnthusiastStreamlined and polished, this is a delicate and dusty Brunello, with aromas of brimstone, lead pencil, cola, ginger, dried berry and cassis. There is a distant aroma of toasted nut, adding to the wine's overall complexity. Dry, tight and austere in the mouth.
International Wine Cellar(14.5% alcohol): Deep red with ruby highlights. Red cherry, iron, violet, menthol and smoke on the nose. Juicy, spicy and ripe, offering impressive inner-mouth perfume and excellent intensity to the slightly medicinal dark red fruit and saline flavors. Really classic Brunello but still a baby; I wouldn't touch this for another five or six years. Tenuta di Sesta consistently makes one of the most refined, flinty/minerally Brunellos of all.
Wine AdvocateThe 2008 Brunello di Montalcino is a pleasant, fruity wine to drink over the near-term. Freshly cut flowers, sweet red berries and spices all burst from the glass. Though not especially complex, the 2008 possesses gorgeous inner perfume and good overall balance. Anticipated maturity: 2013-2018.
